This year the trip has 3 options in order to accommodate a variety of time and cost preferences. Basic Service and Study Trip, July 9 - 23. $895* plus airfare. Week 1- Work with local villagers in Sorata Valley on Quaker funded projects (QBL.org and BQEF.org), We plan to work together with the internado students on a much needed construction project. Work will be organized and directed by an expert builder with a decade of experience in guiding volunteer participants in meaningful accomplishments. Those who prefer an alternative to physical labor may help with English classes, organic garden, or organize drama. art or other special projects. We will connect with local Friends, visit isolated villages, practice Spanish, experience simplicity! Week 2- La Paz, Tiwanaku site of pre-Inca civilization, Copacabana, Lake Titikaka Island of the Sun. Visit QBL projects, meet BQEF scholarship students. Learn about history, culture, political movements.

Optional Peru Extension 1-Puno- July 23-26. apprx.$200*. Puno, at the Peruvian end of Lake Titikaka. Visit the floating reed islands of the Uros, Sillustani Inca and pre-Inca funerary towers, experience nightlife in bustling Puno. Return to La Paz. Depart for home July 26.

Those who send deposits prior to the availability of final cost information will have the option of canceling the Peru portion with full refund of that deposit.
Costs include lodging (double occupancy) with breakfast, dinner during the time in Sorata and some lunches, ground and boat transportation, admission fees to Tiwanaku and Machu Picchu, some gratuities. US participants will need a Bolivian visa; check their website for current requirements

Air travel Fares to La Paz vary widely. Best rates are usually available in January and February, increasing steadily as summer approaches. The group will meet in Miami for American Airlines flight #922 departing shortly before midnight July 9, arriving La Paz at dawn the next day. Return will be from La Paz or Cusco, Peru, depending on option selected. Information for flight from Cusco to Lima will be available later; fare usually runs about $100. Participants from Europe often prefer to stay a night in Miami before the departure and/or on return.

Other individual extensions may be arranged: volunteering in Quaker schools or at the internado; studying Spanish. Homestay cost is about $30 per week including 2 meals a day.
